OGAE REST OF THE WORLD CODE OF CONDUCT
Effective Date July 1, 2026. Applies to all Members, guests, and other individuals accessing Club sites or pages or attending Club activities.
Purpose:
According to the Club Constitution, OGAE Rest of the World (the “Club”) is intended to bring together fans of the Eurovision Song Contest from those countries not represented by other clubs within OGAE International. Fans from countries that are otherwise represented within OGAE International are also welcome.
The Club is organized to support the cross-communication of fans of the song contest from around the world. In partnership with other clubs within the OGAE International family, the Club is part of a broader network of Eurovision fans. The Club is intended to be a welcoming, respectful, and enjoyable community where fans can connect, share their enthusiasm, and participate in discussions and activities related to shared interests. It is also intended to be a safe, friendly, and exclusive space free from discrimination, bullying, abuse, or other inappropriate behavior.
To foster these purposes, the Board has developed this Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct is subject to amendment from time-to-time by the Board. Anyone joining the Club in any capacity, including by accessing Club events or online spaces, shall be deemed irrevocably to have agreed to follow this Code of Conduct.
1. Treat Everyone with Respect
Expected conduct
Be courteous and respectful to all participants.
Engage in discussions in a constructive and positive manner.
Respect differing opinions, tastes, and perspectives.
Communicate in a way that supports an inclusive and welcoming environment.
Express opinions on music and performances in appropriate ways.
PROHIBITED conduct
Harass, threaten, intimidate, or bully others.
Engage in personal attacks, insults, or name-calling.
Use of racial, ethnic, religious, or other slurs or other language deemed by the Board to be inflammatory, derogatory, or offensive.
Criticize others in Club spaces on the basis of race, religion, political ideology, ethnicity, gender (including gender identity and gender expression), sexual orientation, or any other inappropriate basis.
2. Maintain a Safe and Inclusive Community
Expected conduct
Treat all individuals fairly and respectfully.
Help create a community where everyone feels comfortable participating.
Report concerns about inappropriate behavior to Board members or other moderators.
Be sensitive of others’ differing political, religious, cultural, or ideological views.
PROHIBITED conduct
Discrimination or harassment of any kind.
Targeting, excluding, or mocking others because of identity, background, political preferences, or viewpoint.
3. Respect PrivacY
Expected conduct
Respect the privacy of other members.
Obtain permission before sharing another person's personal information, messages, photos, or content.
Promptly remove any content containing images of others if requested.
PROHIBITED conduct
Post personal or confidential information about others.
Dox, stalk, or otherwise invade another member's privacy.
Bring personal disputes into Club forums.
4. Keep Content Relevant and Appropriate
Expected conduct
Share content relevant to the Club's purposes and consistent with Club standards.
Ensure posts, comments, images, and links are appropriate for the community.
Discuss freely personal opinions on artists, songs, fashion, and other matters related to the Eurovision Song Contest.
Post occasional information and articles relevant to the current contest or significant news related to artists.
PROHIBITED conduct
Post illegal, harmful, or graphic content.
Engage in discussion of topics other than those directly related to the Club and the Eurovision Song Contest.
Post on topics that are more than incidentally political, religious, or marketing in nature.
Spam, flood discussions, or repeatedly post the same content.
Post links to personal websites on Club spaces more than one post per week.
Post significant content in languages other than English unless such content is specifically relevant to Club business (such as information about shows and tickets)
Share malware, phishing links, or other harmful material.
5. Respect Intellectual Property
Expected conduct
Respect copyrights, trademarks, and intellectual property rights.
Give proper credit when sharing fan-created content or other works.
Share only content you created, have permission to use, or are otherwise allowed to share.
PROHIBITED conduct
Present another person's work as your own.
Upload or distribute content that violates copyright or intellectual property rules.
6. No Commercial Solicitation
Expected conduct
Keep discussion focused on the Club's community purpose.
Ask administrators before promoting events, merchandise, organizations, or fundraising.
PROHIBITED conduct
Advertise products, services, or businesses without authorization.
Solicit donations, investments, sales, or unrelated promotions.
7. Follow Board Instructions
Expected conduct
Cooperate with Board decisions.
Comply with requests regarding content or behavior.
Raise concerns respectfully through designated channels.
PROHIBITED conduct
Argue enforcement decisions in public threads after being directed to a private review process.
Attempt to evade moderation actions or use alternate accounts to bypass restrictions.
8. Reporting Concerns
Expected conduct
Do not escalate the situation.
Notify a Board member or other designated moderator or administrator.
Provide relevant information to assist review, such as screenshots, links, dates, and usernames when available.
PROHIBITED conduct
Retaliate against anyone who makes a good-faith report.
Knowingly submit false or misleading reports.
9. Applicability and Enforcement
The Code of Conduct is in effect at all Club events and in all Club spaces. Violations of the Code of Conduct should be reported to the Board or to other designated moderators or administrators of applicable Club webspaces or events.
Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in one or more actions, including (without limitation) informal warnings, content removal, temporary suspension of posting privileges, temporary suspension from the Club, or permanent removal from the fan Club. Board members, moderators, and other administrators reserve the right to take reasonable action to protect the Club and its members. Enforcement actions are not subject to challenge or appeal.
10. Interpretation and Amendment
The Board has the exclusive right to interpret the Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct is not intended to exhaustive, and the Board shall have full discretion in expanding the interpretation to cover actions not consistent with the intent of the Code of Conduct even if such actions are not expressly prohibited by the Code of Conduct.
The Board may amend or update this Code of Conduct from time to time as it determines appropriate. Any amendments shall be immediately effective and applicable unless otherwise specified by the Board.
11. Acknowledgment
By joining the Club or participating in any event or accessing Club webspaces, members and guests irrevocably acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to comply with this Code of Conduct.
