I’m a 90’s kid through and through. This song brings back so many memories from when I was 14 years old, and it was a big hit in my country, the Philippines. I remember hearing it everywhere— in shopping malls, on public transportation, and on TV shows. It was even used in all kinds of performances, from famous artists with their backup dancers on TV to kids dancing in the streets. I was one of them. My neighborhood friends and I danced along and performed this song during our town’s summer special evening. It was a big event because the whole town came to watch different performances (even the mayor was there!).
We definitely gave a great performance, but what I remember most are the rehearsals leading up to that night.
You know what’s funny?! I can even remember the choreography! So every time this gets played at the Eurovision pre-parties, I (secretly) dance the steps that I did on that summer night.
